contract length
how long should your contracts be?
I was challenged on my live training last week about the time of contracts I usually buy into.Personally I trade weeklies and suggest the same contract length for those students it makes sense for in Theta Warrior Elite.Primarily focusing on weeklies means I don’t focus as much of my attention on contracts over a week long or contracts with expirations on the day.Now if you’re looking for small gains the day trades are perfect for you.And if you care more about mitigating risk while retaining a reasonable gain you can buy 10-20 day contracts. But again I think weekly contracts are the sweet spot for many traders. You just have to remember that buying options with more time reduces the risk of time decay, which can erode the value of options quickly, especially near expiration. While buying more time reduces risk, it also reduces the potential reward, as options with longer expirations are generally more expensive. And for day trades, the focus is on capturing short-term price movements which doesn’t always maximize your return. So Trading weekly options provides a higher reward potential for short-term trades, as they are cheaper and more sensitive to price movements of the underlying asset. That’s All,Theta WarriorPS: There's a lot more questions from last weeks training and I’m not sure if I’ll be able to cover all of them. So after chatting with my team, we’re considering temporarily making the replay public.Let me know if that would help.
